I'm going to scream very loudly the next time I see written - "I could care less" when we all know that what the author means is that the speaker "couldn't care less". When it comes to feedback I'm very much in the camp of only giving feedback when I've really enjoyed something. It has the obligatory side swipe at slash by an author, here J K Rowling, but the, male, author of the article is far more open minded (he's mentions Bodie and Doyle) and pretty positive about fan fiction as a whole. I've said this once, or more than once, and I'm going to repeat it, but I've never read so much tedious, poorly written, badly spelt, ill conceived clap trap as I have in the Harry Potter fandom. Nearly all, if not ALL the recs I see on LJ for SG-1 are LJ based. I read people complaining that there are no good J/D or Gen SG-1 stories being written and since I see stories (some good, some bad, some indifferent) appearing every day on the SG-1 lists I frequent, I wonder if there is a conscious/unconscious bias against those stories that are ( Read more... )

Why do people post stories they presumably want other people to read yet don't make any effort to make them reader friendly? I don't know about anyone else, but I am beyond pissed off when presented with a long line of prose with no paragraphs, or dialogue that is one continuous stream.
